Hoo boy, we’ve had quite the rain spell lately. It wasn’t constantly raining, but it seemed to be enough to destroy any outdoor plans. Rain is tricky like that. And kind of a jerk at times… mainly ’cause my hair can get frizzy to the highest degree. Like natural curl, run away screaming, what died on my head, afro. It’s all good though, since it dried up enough for us to attend Springlicious this past Saturday (yay).
To be honest, I really didn’t know what to expect from this event. I’ve been saddened by the state of Queen Street lately. It’s a cute little shopping area in a convenient location but every time I visit, there are more and more empty storefronts. Once we arrived at Springlicious, I was thrilled to see Queen Street vibrant and full of life!

This was a pretty cool event. There were plenty of rides and games for the kids (including those at heart). There were quite a few food options plus an assortment of vendors and even some stores were open late to accommodate visitors. We happily picked up our comics in the same trip (thanks Paul!). The adults had several places to stop along the walk for alcohol at Pubs or one of the beer and wine gardens. Live music was playing, including April Wine which I have been told by Dan is a pretty big deal. Maybe I’m just not hip enough.
We had a great time but that’s pretty much guaranteed anytime you plug me into something resembling a carnival. I become a kid again and Dan just smirks at my childlike wonder. He probably calls it something else, but I’m writing this so neener-neener.
We’ll be looking forward to Springlicious 2013. Hopefully rain free!
