This past week Dan and I decided to venture out and take in the Wednesday SupperMarket happening in Niagara-On-The-Lake. We haven’t been yet and found it quite an interesting concept. It seems to be a mash-up of a Farmers Market and gourmet dining experience. Apparently we snuck in right on time because the very last market will be happening next week (August 29th). I urge you to go if you haven’t checked it out yet!
When we arrived around 6pm the place was packed. Enticing food was carried on the breeze, live music was playing in the background and happy chatter was rising from the crowd as they sipped wine. It was difficult to decide on what to take in first.
A bit of warning – you may have to wait for your food. Most people expected this but some walked up and wanted the ‘fast food’ experience. This isn’t a chain – these food trucks are preparing your food fresh. I waited about 10 minutes for mine and Dan waited about 30 minutes. In comparison, we would have waited longer in a restaurant and it was easy to fill the time with wine and vendor shopping.
Sharing a picnic table with Tiffany of Eating Niagara, we devoured our delicious food trying to savour each bite but rushing a bit knowing we still had ice cream ahead of us. Every day should end with ice cream.
Niagara-On-The-Lake Wednesday SupperMarket was well organized, the area was clean and there were even compost and recycling bins available. It’s nice to live in a region that is taking local initiative and green-thinking seriously.
