The beautiful thing about art is that is can appeal to anyone. Art can break your perspective and engage your emotional being. We gravitate and connect with the most surprising pieces, walking away feeling like the artist pulled back the folds of our minds for the barest of moments.
Artistic expression transcends race, religion, gender and social status. On a canvas, chunk of wood, or block of clay – we can all be made equal.
It’s a tough claim to state that art doesn’t appeal to you. How do you know? Maybe you just haven’t found your piece yet.
Art isn’t about the price tag. It’s a celebration of life. Humanity at its rawest form.
Saturday night, Ridgeway was glowing in celebration for just that concept. Art.The Fort Erie Arts Council (FEAC) was presenting the 8th annual Red Ribbon Art Exhibition. The gala was held at The Sanctuary, a community based art gallery and performing arts centre.
The evening played out under soft blue lighting; the room encased by artistic expression in several mediums. Models perched on platforms like living dolls wearing the latest fashions. Sculptures in varied colors and compositions flagged your attention. And let’s not forget the framed art! Photographs and paintings were lining the walls and propped up as a central focal point of the night’s festivities.
Over 30 local artists were in attendance to discuss their works. Live painting was taking place on stage and in the front lobby. Wine and hors d’oeuvres whipped around the room as friends old and new chatted lively. Beneath all of this a Silent Auction was taking place downstairs to help raise funds for FEAC.
The Red Ribbon Art Exhibition was a celebration of local creativity and, all in all, just a great evening out!
