Sunday, June 9th 2013 marks the 18th year of the S.C.E.N.E. Music Festival. This event brings together thousands of music fans in celebration. As downtown St. Catharines is transformed, people will flood the streets to appreciate artists from all walks of life.
When we attended last year, it marked the first festival for Embrace Niagara. We walked away with a few new favourite artists to put in our collection. It was such a great event that it has us going back for more this time.
There are too many artists to list and although the performers are scattered all throughout downtown, all locations are within walking distance. You’ll find artists at these locations: Market Square, Red Hot Chilli Pepper, Rockfords, Patrick Sheehans, Mercant Ale House, Mikados, Fiddler’s Pour House, L3, Coco Cabana, and Mahtay Cafe.
What makes this festival so unique for me is that I don’t really know more than half of these musicians. It means that I can walk into this event with an open mind and ready to make new discoveries. Plus, since S.C.E.N.E. is such a large festival, I have so many talents to choose from. It truly will be hard to decide how we spend the day.
If, like me, you have a hard time making your mind up when presented with too many options, I would suggest using the online custom schedule from the S.C.E.N.E. Music Festival website. This way I can set up the day before I’ve even left my house. Neat!
