Tomorrow, Niagara celebrates PoultryFest 2013 in Smithville. This feathered event is a blast to attend and very family friendly. Dan and I had a terrific time last year — I even got to hold a chick! I’m still reeling from that experience and miss my little Howard the Duckling.
PoultryFest is an easy-going, enjoyable event. With the different competitions, concerts, and shows it is easy to be entertained for hours. This year’s competitions include Wing Eating, Egg Drop, PoultryFest Idol, Best Buy Video Zone and Cake Creations. Drop in to the Poultry Discovery Centre and watch chicks hatching. You can hold your very own chick like I did!
Wondering how you’ll stuff your faces? Arrive between 7:30 to 10:30 am to experience the Get Cracking breakfast. Even more food items can be enjoyed throughout the day along the fairgrounds.
There is much more to do than just bird-related activities. PoultryFest will feature the Enbridge Family Zone which offers bouncing fun for the little ones. Men can split off to take in the classic car and truck show while the women spend their time at the farmers’ market, arts and craft show. Or, if you’re like me, you can break social barriers and do both.
Accessing the festival is a piece of cake! Grab the free Park ‘n’ Ride that will be available at the Greek Hall on Regional Road 20, John Calvin School on Station Street, and the Village Square Mall.
