It is one thing to make a trip for the weekend to Niagara Falls, but it is quite another to embrace the complete Niagara lifestyle.
What is it like to live in Niagara?
The Niagara region has some of the most distinctive and colourful history in Canada and is made up of twelve municipalities with a population of over 425,000.
If there is one word that describes life here it is: BALANCE.
We enjoy 4 distinct, but mild seasons. Niagara has never had a day over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, has the 3rd mildest winter in Canada (after Vancouver and Victoria) due to the unique micro-climate caused by the 2 Great Lakes and the escarpment. It is the warm spring, summer and fall here that is responsible for making this one of the major growing regions in the country as well as enabling the growth of grapes and peaches.
Whatever you are looking for can be found here in Niagara:
Urban lifestyle – the shopping, technology, world-class festivals and events, spas and getaways
Embrace nature — Lake Ontario to the north or Lake Erie on the south and numerous rivers, creeks and ponds, acres of wineries, golfing, orchards, as well as hundreds of kilometres of multi-use trail systems and forests teeming with wildlife
Culture — this is an award winning wine region that is home to historic architecture, forts from the War of 1812, live theatre, music and dozens of festivals throughout the year. Brock University and Niagara College are engaged throughout the entire region and add a diversity of activities and richness to many of the communities here.
Peace and comfort — Though a short drive away from major urban areas like Toronto and Buffalo, Niagara enjoys a quiet, safe and friendly lifestyle. The pace is a bit slower and the people are warm and thoughtful.
The region is made up of a mix of small cities and a series of towns and villages with a great infrastructure in place that allows you to zip along from neighbouring towns easily. The close proximity of major urban centres like Toronto and Buffalo make for excellent day trips.
This is an excellent area for a cottage or full-time living as Niagara offers one of the best values for real estate in Canada.
Niagara has always been considered a world-class travel destination and offers an incredibly diverse selection of premium shopping, boutiques and eateries for a region of its size.
We found so much more than we were looking for in Niagara and made it our home — could it be right for you?
